The PLANET is the world's first neutron beamline specialized for high-pressure and high-temperature experiments. The most characteristic feature is the capability to investigate the state of the matter at high-pressure and high-temperatures up to 20 GPa and 2000 K with the multi-anvil high-pressure apparatus. The construction was started in 2008, and the beamline was commissioned in the last spring. The performance revealed by the commissioning will be introduced. The resolution of the diffraction pattern (d/d = 0.6%) was found to be almost equal to the designed value (0.5%). The elimination of the background from the sample surrounding materials, which is the most important feature of the high-pressure experiments, was found to be accomplished with the use of the severe incident collimator and radial receiving collimator system. The beamline is used by project members since this autumn and will be opened for general users in the next April.

So far, there have been reported various kinds of high pressure cell for magnetic measurements in the SQUID magnetometer such as the piston-cylinder, the diamond anvil and the indenter cells. We have opposed a miniature ceramic anvil high pressure cell for magnetic measurement in the magnetometer. In this presentation, we shows experimental procedure to attain higher pressures than 10 GPa and experimental data on the rare earth YbCuSi and uranium ferromagnet UGe. YbCuSi is a paramagnetic compound at ambient pressure and becomes a ferromagnetic one above 8 GPa revealed by the ac magnetic susceptibility measurement. We confirm the strong uniaxial ferromagnetic state. Also, we comment on the strong correlation between the maximum in the magnetic susceptibility and the meta magnetic transition observed in the paramagnetic and high pressure phase in UGe.

To test feasibility of neutron diffraction measurements of glass at high pressures up to several GPa, a sample of silica glass in a Paris-Edinburgh type high-pressure apparatus was measured at ambient conditions using a total scattering spectrometer, NOVA, at the Japan Proton Accelerator Complex (J-PARC). The sample has a shape of double convex lens, 6 mm in diameter, 4.4 mm in thickness. It was surrounded by a ring-shape gasket made of TiZr alloy and two anviles made of tungsten carbide. The incident neutron beam passed through a anvil and the diffracted beam passed through the gasket. The data acquisition time was about 20 hours. A vanadium sample and the empty gasket were also measured as references. A clear oscillation was observed in the intensity as a function of wave number.

Beamline "PLANET" at BL11, MLF in J-PARC is aimed at investigating hydrogen in minerals and rocks in the earth's interior. To generate high pressure and high temperature conditions, 6-rams multi-anvil press "ATSUHIME" is installed in BL11. 6-rams press is suitable for neutron diffraction experiment because it has a wide window surrounding the sample compared to other multi anvil press using guide block. It allows us to place the insertion device and radial collimator close to the sample, and to cover wide diffraction angle and azimuth angle. The detail of design and performance of the 6-rams press will be presented.
